Sonic Connections geeft iedere avond een staalkaart van stijlen: rock, postpunk, indie, singer-songwriter, elektronica en avantgarde. Jonge acts uit Nederland en Vlaanderen, hongerig op zoek naar opwinding en experiment.

Bovendien is er veel te beleven rondom de concerten: de Duodisco voor met-z’n-tweetjes, het splinternieuwe Aanwijsstokjesmuseum van Steven de Peven, de interactieve Sonic Peepshow op het Nesplein en elke avond intieme huiskamerconcerten in de buurt.

Donderdagmiddag is er een Muziek Meeting der Lage Landen, voor professionals uit het muziekcircuit, in samenwerking met Muziek Centrum Nederland en Muziek Centrum Vlaanderen. Ook is er drie dagen een popfotografie workshop met Guy Kokken in samenwerking met OOR.

Sonic Connections is hét muziekfestival voor wie onbegrensd verbanden wil leggen.

Every evening, Sonic Connections will present a sampler of eclectic musical styles: rock, post-punk, indie, singer-songwriter, electronic and avant-garde. Young acts from The Netherlands and Flanders hungry for excitement and experimentation.

There are also many sideshows accompanying the main concerts: the Duo Disco, a disco for two; Steven de Peven’s brand new Museum of Pointing Implements; the interactive Sonic Peepshow on Nesplein, as well as intimate local living-room concerts every evening.

On the Thursday afternoon, the Music Meeting of the Low Lands will take place, bringing together professionals from the music scene in cooperation with the Dutch and Flemish Music centers. Also there is a workshop for up-and-coming pop photographers with Guy Kokken in cooperation with OOR.

Sonic Connections is the music festival for everyone looking to make unlimited connections.

Het idee is simpel: korte akoestische popconcerten in de intimiteit van een sfeervolle huiskamer. Het huiskamerconcertnetwerk Live in Your Living Room opereert in Vlaanderen en Nederland, en strijkt nu neer in de directe omgeving van de Brakke Grond. Bands en singer-songwriters, dichterbij dan ooit. Steeds in de vroege avonduren, als opmaat voor het grote werk in de Brakke Grond zelf. NB: concerten zijn inbegrepen in je ticket, maar reserveren is noodzakelijk via 020 - 6266866.

The idea is simple: short, acoustic pop concerts in the intimate setting of a cosy living room. The living room concert network Live in Your Living Room operates in Flanders and the Netherlands, and will be coming to private living rooms close to de Brakke Grond. Bands and singer-songwriters, more up-close-and-personal than ever. Always in the early evening, as a warm-up for the bigger gigs in de Brakke Grond. Aanwijsstokjesmuseum/ Pointing Implements Museum >>
Steven de Peven maakt furore met zijn aanwijsstokjes, nu voor het eerst in museale vorm. Een serieuze zaak, want wie eenmaal in de wereld van het aanwijzen rolt, kan en wil niet meer zonder. Dames- en herenmodellen, lange- en korteafstandstypes, multifunctionele-, peperdure- en wegwerpexemplaren. Níets is onaanwijsbaar.

Steven de Peven is stirring up a storm with his pointing implements: gathered together in a museum for the very first time. A serious business: once you have entered the wonderful world of pointing, you can never go back. Ladies’ and gents’ models, long-distance and short-distance types, multifunctional, bespoke and throwaway implements. They all point the way ahead.

Sonic Peepshow
Studio De Brakke Grond gaf opdracht aan studenten Productie van de Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten om een radiobooth te ontwerpen, de Sonic Peepshow, van waaruit hun collega’s van de audiovisuele opleiding Rits (Brussel) tijdens het festival talkshows, akoestische sessies, interviews en columns verzorgen. Radio Mortale zal een gedeelte van de Sonic Peepshow uitzenden.

Studio De Brakke Grond commissioned a radio booth, or Sonic Peepshow, from students of the production course at the Amsterdam School of the Arts, from which their fellow students from the Rits audio-visual course (Brussels) will provide talk shows, acoustic sessions, interviews and columns during Sonic Connections. Radio Mortale will broadcast part of the Sonic Peepshow.

Duodisco
Een intieme, feestelijke constructie waarin je lekker met z’n tweeën kunt dansen op muziek van geprogrammeerde bands. Gebouwd door Amsterdamse kunstvakstudenten, die ook een deel van de festivalaankleding op zich nemen. De weken voorafgaand aan Sonic Connections kom je de Duodisco al veelvuldig tegen op Amsterdamse hotspots.

An intimate, festive place for couples to dance to the music of bands taking part in the festival. Built by Amsterdam art students, who will also be providing some of the décor for the festival. The Duo Disco will be appearing frequently at Amsterdam hot spots in the weeks leading up to Sonic Connections.
