The Session is een collectief van acht jonge, internationale ontwerpers en kunstenaars, allen afgestudeerd aan de Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam, die sinds sept. 07 een thematisch en interdisciplinair fanzine maken. Deze speciale editie rond het thema Endism is niet alleen een publicatie, maar o.a. ook een expositie en een releaseparty met cinema, bands en performances.

Vlaams-Amerikaans curator Jan Van Woensel (werkzaam in New York, San Francisco en Los Angeles) fungeert als redacteur/curator en is de ontwikkelaar van het concept. Tientallen Vlaamse, Nederlandse en internationale kunstenaars, ontwerpers, performers, filmmakers en schrijvers leveren een bijdrage.

The Session werkt niet met een standaardvorm of terugkerende inhoudelijke grondslag, maar produceert aan de hand van een vast proces. Per ‘session’ bepaalt een van de acht kunstenaars en ontwerpers het thema. Deze persoon is dan tevens verantwoordelijk voor de redactie, vormgeving en productie. Dit keer vervult Jan Van Woensel deze rol.

THE LAST SESSION

The Session is a collective of eight international designers and artists, all graduates of the Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam that makes a thematic, interdisciplinary fanzine since September '07. This special edition around the theme Endism is not only a publication, but also takes the form of an exhibition and a release party with cinema, bands and performances among other events.

Flemish-American curator Jan Van Woensel (who works in New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles) is editor and curator, and he is the developer of the concept. Dozens of Flemish, Dutch and international artists, designers, performers, film makers and authors contribute to it.

The Session does not work with a standard form or a recurrent basic theme, but produces on the basis of a regular process. Per session, one of the eight artists and designers determine the theme. This person is then also responsible for the editing, the design and production. This time Jan Van Woensel fulfils this role.

The publication that has been made as part of The Last Session can be bought at De Brakke Grond and costs 10 euro.
