Geen vreedzame co-existentie in het artistieke landschap, maar het bewust en opzettelijk zoeken van ontmoeting, dialoog en confrontatie. Hedendaagse performancekunst zoekt crossover, botsing en ontwrichting: BAOUMMM – You’re not alone! Something Raw 2010 presenteert voorstellingen uit binnen- en buitenland die hongerig op zoek zijn naar de ander en het andere. De choreografen staan open voor uitwisseling, met elkaar, het publiek, de wereld. Hun performances verschuilen zich niet achter abstractie of onleesbaarheid, maar zijn direct en confronterend. In de periferie van het festival gaan kunstenaars korte, intensieve samenwerkingen aan die zullen uitmonden in Short Cuts. Ook wordt er een punk-zine tabloid gepubliceerd, zijn er debatten en spreken kunstenaars manifesten uit op de bar van het festivalcentrum. Natuurlijk sluit Something Raw 2010 af met een knallend feest voor denkende lichamen. Something Raw wil in dialoog met zijn publiek; live en rechtstreeks. Wees welkom!

Something Raw 2010 presents productions from the Netherlands and abroad, all of which are eagerly seeking out the other and the different. Choreographers who are open to exchanges – with one another, with the audience, with the world. Whose performances do not hide behind
abstraction or indecipherability, but are direct and confrontational. On the periphery of the festival, artists will enter into short, intensive cooperations culminating in Short-cuts. A punk-zine tabloid will be published, there will be debates and artists will declaim manifestos on the bar of the festival centre. And of course, Something Raw 2010 will close with an explosive party for thinking bodies.

Short Cuts

03.02 – 05.02.10, Frascati 3, 19:00 - FREE
We nodigen drie makers uit om een korte, intense confrontatie aan te gaan met ‘de ander’. Een persoon die hij of zij bewondert, vreest of niet begrijpt. Wat gebeurt er als tegenpolen elkaar raken? Sarah Vanhee (BE/NL), Bojana Mladenovic (SRB/NL) en Ugo Dehaes (BE) dagen hun persoonlijke held of antagonist uit voor een intense ontmoeting. Ze zijn in gesprek met resp. beeldend kunstenares Dora Garcia (BE), Vincent de Rooij (NL) en Nico Frijda (NL).

The festival motto BAOUMMM – You’re not alone! finds its ultimate expression in the Short Cuts. In the 1960s, artist Joseph Beuys locked himself in a cage in a gallery with a coyote; we have invited three makers to enter into a brief, intense confrontation with ‘the other’. Someone he or
she admires, fears or doesn’t understand. The emphasis is on the friction created when artistic positions meet. What happens when opposites touch? Sarah Vanhee (BE/NL), Bojana Mladenovic (SRB/NL) and Ugo Dehaes (BE) will challenge their personals heroes or antagonists to an intense meeting. They will enter into discussion with artists Dora Garcia (BE), Vincent de Rooij (NL) and Nico Frijda (NL) respectively. Will these meetings give rise to new collaborations, or will it be BAOUMMM…?

After Talks
02.02 - 05.02.10, Frascati 3, 22:45-23:30 - FREE
Er is gelegenheid om vragen te stellen aan de makers. Moderatoren Andrea Bozic (choreografe) en Pieter T'Jonck (recensent) houden zich niet op een veilige afstand, maar gooien zichzelf ook in de discussie.

The daily After Talks will be held in Frascati 3. There will be an opportunity to ask the makers questions. There will be thinking aloud about the artistic strategies, the confrontations or amalgamations that occur. There will be meetings of opposites and like minds. You will be able to put questions to the makers, and vice versa. These talk shows are an essential element of the festival theme BAOUMMM – you’re not alone! Moderators Andrea Bozic´ and Pieter T’Jonck will not maintain a safe distance, but will throw themselves into the discussion.

Manifestos
02.02 – 06.02.10 , De Blincker, 23:55 -FREE
Elke avond om vijf voor twaalf spreken kunstenaars zich uit over het gebied tussen kunst en publiek. Staand boven op de bar van De Blincker Festival Centrum. De volgende dag staan hun manifesten afgedrukt in het Raw Tabloid. Deelnemende kunstenaars zijn onder meer Bruno Listopad, Pere Faura, Bojana Mladenovic, Daniel Almgren Recen, Sanja Mitrovic, Giulio D'Anna, Gabriella Marioni, Frédéric Gies, Felix Ritter en studenten van de SNDO.

A manifesto involves outspoken courage. Something that typifies the artists involved in Something Raw! Each evening at five to twelve, they will express themselves on the area between art and audience. Standing on top of the bar of De Blincker Festival Centre. The next day, the manifestos will be printed in the Raw Tabloid. Artists who have been invited to submit a manifesto include Bruno Listopad, Pere Faura, Bojana Mladenovic, Daniel AlmgreRecén, Sanja Mitrovic, Giulio D’Anna, Gabriella Marioni, Frédéric Gies, Felix Ritter and students of the SNDO.
