Een van de hoogtepunten van het voorbije Kunstenfestivaldesarts is nu te zien op Something Raw. Tres Scripturae is een performance waarin drie elementen – dans, muziek en licht – elk hun eigen traject afleggen en elkaar daarbij voortdurend kruisen. Eenvoudige bewegingssequenties worden vermenigvuldigd en ontleed tot er één grote beweging uit ontstaat. Zonder geheimen voor het publiek manipuleert de lichtontwerper de scène en brengt de pianist twintigste-eeuws repertoire ten gehore dat nu eens aansluit, dan weer botst met beweging en licht. In die ontmoetingen vormen zich verbanden en wordt de constructie van de voorstelling zichtbaar. Het mysterie van het theater wordt ontrafeld. Pieter ’T Jonck in De Morgen: ‘(Guilloteau) spiegelt en vermenigvuldigt eenvoudige choreografieën op elke denkbare manier, tot de kijker bijna duizelt.’
One of the highlights of the recent Kunstenfestivaldesarts can now be seen at Something Raw. Tres Scripturae is a performance in which three elements (dance, music and light) all follow their own trajectory, constantly crossing each other’s paths. Simple movement sequences are multiplied and dissected until a single, massive movement has developed. With no secrets to keep from the audience, the light designer manipulates the scene and the pianist plays 20th-century repertoire aligned or at odds with the movements and lighting. It is in these meetings that connections develop revealing the show’s underlying structure. Theatre’s mystery laid bare. Pieter ’T Jonck wrote in De Morgen: ‘(Guilloteau) mirrors and multiplies simple choreographies in every way imaginable until the audience almost dizzies.’
Biography
Etienne Guilloteau (France, 1976) studied dance at P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels. He performed his graduation solo Love me two times at various European theatres. His recent work has a particular focus on the dramatological relationship between dance, music and light as evinced by Prima dell’atto and DAAD.
