De vierde editie van Sonic Soirée: een mini en intieme versie van Sonic Connections, het pop & rockfestival van de Brakke Grond dat jaarlijks plaatsvindt in april. Ontdek Belgische en Nederlandse bands voordat ze doorbreken bij de grote massa.

De nieuwste editie van Sonic Soirée op 3 maart is een baken van rust in woelige tijden. In een intieme huiskamer-setting is het heerlijk wegzwijmelen bij de betoverende muziek van The Bear that Wasn't en de lieflijke klanken van True Bypass, afgewisseld met de opgewekte nummers van het Amsterdamse European Daughters. Een ultieme feelgood-avond!

True Bypass (B)
Craig Ward (ex-dEUS) en Chantal Acda (Sleeping Dog) ontmoetten elkaar op een vlucht naar Glasgow. Niet lang daarna werd True Bypass een feit. Intimistische songs die getuigen van een ontzettende eenvoud en schoonheid. 'Een intiem, ongekunsteld en troostend document van een duo dat nog veel meer moois in de vingers heeft,' schreef  Goddeau. myspace.com/truebypass

Met And so it's morning dew bracht deze band ongetwijfeld een van de mooiste Belgische debuten van 2010 uit. Dat is natuurlijk niet alleen onze mening: de plaat was goed voor een schier eindeloze reeks bijzondere lovende recensies. Uiterst breekbare songs, gezongen met een engelenstem en begeleid door gloeiend warme composities. Ze luiden tijdens deze - verder eerder herfstige - Sonic Soiree plechtig de lente in. European Daughters brengen vrolijke, meerstemmige alternatieve pop - al zijn de talloze rock, folk en indie-invloeden nooit weg te denken. The latest Sonic Soirée on 3 March is a beacon of peace in these turbulent times. Swoon away in an intimate living-room setting to the enchanting music of The Bear that Wasn’t and the delightful sounds of True Bypass, interspersed with lively numbers by Amsterdam’s European Daughters. The ultimate feelgood evening!

True Bypass (B)
Craig Ward (ex dEUS) and Chantal Acda (Sleeping Dog) met on a flight to Glasgow. Not long afterwards, True Bypass was born. Intimatist songs typified by great beauty and simplicity. 'The intimate, direct and comforting document of a duo that has a lot of beauty still to give,' Goddeau wrote.

With And so it's morning dew, this band undoubtedly released one of the best Belgian debuts of 2010. And that’s not just our opinion: the record garnered a well nigh endless series of particularly praiseworthy reviews. Extremely fragile songs, sung with the voice of an angel and accompanied by warm, glowing compositions. The Bear that Wasn’t play indie folk that literally leaves not a dry eye in the house.

European Daughters (NL)
Will boldly announce the arrival of spring at this otherwise rather autumnal Sonic Soiree. European Daughters play bright, alternative pop with harmonies – although their many rock, folk and indie influences are never far away. Feelgood songs with harmony singing, which can also go pretty damn up-tempo.
