A Dance for the Newest Age is een esthetisch en wiskundig pareltje. Vanuit haar fascinatie voor de onzichtbare principes die materie en beweging sturen, creëerde de Amerikaanse choreografe Eleanor Bauer een zintuiglijk en bezwerend groepswerk. Ideeën en formules uit wetenschap, kunst en filosofie vormen het vertrekpunt voor een reeks transformaties van de zes lichamen op het toneel: nu eens smelten die samen, dan weer cirkelen ze om elkaar heen of spatten ze uiteen tot individuele elementen. Precisie en harmonie gaan daarbij hand in hand met humor en verbeelding.

A Dance for the Newest Age is an aesthetic and mathematical diamond. Out of her fascination for the imperceptible laws that govern matter and momentum, the American choreographer Eleanor Bauer has created a sensual and evocative collective piece. Scientific, artistic and philosophical ideas and formulas form the basis for a series of transformations for the six bodies on the stage: they smelt or they circle each other or they explode apart as individual elements. Precision and harmony hand in hand with humour and imagination.

Biography
Eleanor Bauer (1983) studied at the Tisch School of the Arts in New York and P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels. She previously choreographed the hilarious solos ELEANOR! and (BIG GIRLS DO BIG THINGS), an ‘astonishing solo exploration of performance art’ (De Morgen) and she has danced in Boris Charmatz latest creation at the Avignon festival in 2011. A Dance for a New Age, the sequel to A Newest Testament (the tent piece), will premiere in May 2012. In these two productions, Eleanor Bauer uses the body as an instrument with which to understand contemporary human experience in all its urgency and complexity.
