Miroir séb fragile !

The final piece of the Gathering Series is Miroir Séb Fragile ! (2017), a music-film made as a homage to cinematographer Sébastien Koeppel. At the occasion of this exhibition we activate the audiovisual work five times.

Miroir Séb Fragile !

The film was shot during a two-day recording session experimenting with improvisation in both music and image making. It was filmed on Sébastien’s various 16mm film stocks, some of which were long expired. Live music was played by The Ramirez Brothers; a layer of interpretation and manipulation was later added to these recordings. The film itself was also hand-processed and manipulated in postproduction.

Miroir Séb Fragile ! is an invitation to gather around the event of film projection and music. In between absence and presence, text comes into view, creating a direct passage for light.
