The Myth of Contemporaneity
Artists have to be contemporary if they want to be taken seriously by the art world. But where does this worship of the contemporary come from? And how relevant is contemporaneity in art and art education?
The book De mythe der hedendaagsheid brings together perspectives from the likes of Charles Esche, Thijs Lijster, Navid Nuur, Jonas Staal and Amelia Groom.
This book will be launched this evening, with a keynote address by Amelia Groom. In response, Flemish curator Pieter Vermeulen will deflate potential myths.
